| Hours watched, platforms tracked by Stream Hatchet (no TikTok LIVE) | 21.5 billion, +7.6% year on year | Q2 2026 | Streamlabs and Stream Hatchet, 27 Aug 2026 |
| Twitch average concurrent viewers | 2.07 million, −8.3% year on year | Q2 2026 | Streamlabs and Stream Hatchet, 27 Aug 2026 |
| Channels that went live | Twitch 7.94 million, Kick 807,700, YouTube Live 699,000 | Q2 2026 | Streamlabs and Stream Hatchet, 27 Aug 2026 |
| Average concurrent viewers per live channel | YouTube Live about 308, Kick about 85, Twitch about 23 | Q2 2026 | Streamlabs and Stream Hatchet, 27 Aug 2026 |
| Kick, record month by hours watched | 669.14 million hours, peak 2.36 million viewers | August 2026 | Streams Charts, 2 Sep 2026 |
| Kick, self-reported | 100 million+ active users, 81.7% aged 18–34, 1.5 billion hours in Q2 | 2026 | Kick via NetInfluencer, 5 Aug 2026, and B&T, 4 Aug 2026 |
How to read these numbers:
- Hours watched are not people. The metric adds up viewing time: one person watching for ten hours counts the same as ten people watching for one. Average, peak and unique viewers answer different questions; see CCV, average and unique viewers.
- Trackers count different things. For Q2 2026, Streams Charts reported 31.4 billion hours (NetInfluencer, 15 July 2026), while Stream Hatchet reported 21.5 billion. The Stream Hatchet quarterly does not cover TikTok LIVE; Streams Charts puts TikTok LIVE at 10.6 billion hours in Q3, 19% more than in Q2. Compare shares within one source, never across sources.
- Don't mix quarters or trackers. Stream Hatchet counted 4.52 billion Twitch hours in Q2 2026. Streams Charts counted 4.51 billion in Q3, which it says was 4% more than in Q2, so even on Twitch the two trackers' counts for the same quarter don't match.
- YouTube is defined two ways. Stream Hatchet splits YouTube Live (60.3% of Q2 hours) from YouTube Gaming (8.3%). Streams Charts reports YouTube as one platform. Sport moves it: the World Cup lifted YouTube in Q2, and in Q3 its hours fell 13.7%.
- Self-reported is not tracked. Kick says it passed 1.5 billion hours in Q2 2026; Stream Hatchet counted 1.34 billion for the same quarter. Trackers disagree too, so treat any single Kick figure as an estimate.
- The audience is spread thin. About 23 viewers per Twitch channel means scale comes from many channels, not one.
Live streaming in Spain, Germany, Turkey, the UK and the US
| Market | Metric | Value | Period | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Spain | La Velada del Año VI, event peak | 8,725,296 viewers | 25 Jul 2026 | Streams Charts, 26 Jul 2026 |
| Spain | Ibai, Twitch hours watched | 66.3 million, 8th worldwide, 1st by average viewers | 2025 | Streams Charts, 15 Dec 2025 |
| Germany | eliasn97, Twitch hours watched | 68.6 million, 7th worldwide | 2025 | Streams Charts, 15 Dec 2025 |
| Spain, Germany | Kick users in Europe | Spain 2nd, Germany 3rd, after Poland | 2026 | Kick's EU data via Mein-MMO, 29 Jun 2026 |
| Turkey | Kick share of MENA viewing on Twitch, YouTube Gaming and Kick | 81.4%; Turkish speakers 34.7% of MENA hours on Twitch and Kick | Q1 2026 | Stream Hatchet via NetInfluencer, 4 May 2026 |
| Turkey | Turkish creators in Kick's global top 10 by peak | wtcN 171.5k, Eray 151.2k, Ayberk 118.8k | Q1 2026 | Streams Charts, 9 Apr 2026 |
| Spain | YouTube ad reach; TikTok ad reach, adults | 39.0 million (81.4% of population); 20.9 million (52.0% of adults) | late 2025 | DataReportal, 5 Nov 2025 |
| Germany | YouTube ad reach; TikTok ad reach, adults | 64.7 million (77.1% of population); 23.7 million (33.9% of adults) | late 2025 | DataReportal, 5 Nov 2025 |
| Turkey | YouTube ad reach; TikTok ad reach, adults | 57.9 million (66.0% of population); 44.9 million (68.6% of adults) | late 2025 | DataReportal, 8 Nov 2025 |
| UK | YouTube ad reach; TikTok ad reach, adults | 55.5 million (79.7% of population); 26.8 million (48.4% of adults) | late 2025 | DataReportal, 5 Nov 2025 |
| US | YouTube ad reach; TikTok ad reach, adults | 254 million (73.0% of population); 153 million (55.7% of adults) | late 2025 | DataReportal, 5 Nov 2025 |
How to read these numbers:
- Ad reach is not live viewing. DataReportal's YouTube and TikTok figures come from the platforms' ad tools and cover the whole platform, not live streams. TikTok publishes them for users aged 18 and above only.
- Language is not country. Spanish-language charts include Latin American channels, German-language channels also reach Austria and Switzerland, and Stream Hatchet's Turkish data sits inside a MENA region of 22 countries.
- An event is not the baseline. La Velada's 8.7 million peak is one night. The everyday audience is spread across many channels that go live daily.
- The platform mix differs by market. Three Turkish creators made Kick's global top 10 by peak in Q1 2026, while Spain and Germany each had a streamer in Twitch's 2025 top 10 by hours watched. A full market guide: Advertising with streamers in Spain.
Ad market and creator economy: what brands spend
| Metric | Value | Period | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Global advertising revenue, excl. US political | $1.3 trillion, +8.9% | 2026 forecast | WPP Media, 16 Jun 2026 |
| US creator economy ad spend | $37 billion, +26% (2024: $29.5 billion) | 2025 projection | IAB, 20 Nov 2025 |
| US ad buyers who call creators a “must buy” | 48% | 2025 | IAB, 20 Nov 2025 |
| Amazon advertising services revenue | $19.8 billion, +26% year on year | Q2 2026 | Amazon, form 8-K, 30 Jul 2026 |
How to read these numbers:
- There is no open figure for live stream ad spend. We found no primary, publicly available estimate of how much brands spend on advertising inside live streams worldwide. The nearest open benchmark is IAB's US creator figure, which covers all creator formats.
- IAB's growth rate is a comparison. IAB says creator ad spend grows about four times faster than the media industry overall.
- Amazon does not break out Twitch. Amazon Ads sells Twitch advertising, but its reported revenue covers all of Amazon's ad business.
- New supply arrived. Kick opened KICK Ads to advertisers for the first time in August 2026 (B&T, 4 August 2026).
Viewer behavior: ads, ad blockers and trust in creators
| Metric | Value | Period | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Active ad-blocking users worldwide | 1.1 billion (448 million desktop, 629 million mobile) | Q4 2025 | eyeo 2026 ad-blocking report, May 2026 |
| Ad-block rate by country | US 33%, Turkey 32%, Germany 31%, Spain 29%, UK 27% | 2025 | eyeo, May 2026 |
| Remember an ad from their last live viewing session | 66% | US, 2026 | Magnite, 20 Aug 2026 |
| Brands advertising in live streams seem more premium / more trustworthy | 57% / 51% | US, 2026 | Magnite, 20 Aug 2026 |
| Open to the same or more ads per hour in live than on demand | 79% | US, 2026 | Magnite, 20 Aug 2026 |
| Creator-led ads feel more authentic than traditional advertising | 45% of consumers who engage with creators, as reported | US, May 2026 | Deloitte, as reported by NetInfluencer, 25 Sep 2026 |
How to read these numbers:
- Surveys measure what people say. Magnite surveyed more than 800 US adults who watch live content on streaming services, from sport and news to events and entertainment; game streams are not singled out. Deloitte surveyed 3,518 US consumers; we saw the figure only in NetInfluencer's retelling.
- The ad-block table has a sourcing caveat. eyeo captions it with GWI, while its methodology credits Blockthrough traffic data. Read it as an order of magnitude: in all five markets the measured ad-block rate was roughly three in ten.
- What it means for buying. An ad drawn into the stream picture is part of the video: ad blockers don't remove it, and it stays in the recording.
What these statistics mean for a media plan
Taken together, the figures point to five practical rules for a live stream campaign:
- Plan across platforms. Twitch held 14.2% of tracked hours in Q3 2026. A Twitch-only plan misses most live viewing, and in Turkey it misses the biggest streams, which run on Kick.
- Buy many channels, not one. With about 23 viewers per Twitch channel and about 85 per Kick channel, reach at scale comes from hundreds of streamers, so one rate and one report across all of them save weeks of negotiation.
- Separate events from the baseline. A record night like La Velada is sold as a sponsorship; the everyday audience is bought channel by channel.
- Plan for ad blockers. In all five APIQ markets, the ad-block rate was between 27% and 33% in 2025.
- Pay for verified delivery, not for estimates. Tracker numbers size a market. A campaign should be billed on views checked one by one.
APIQ data: verified views, not market estimates
These are APIQ's own figures, published on the site and taken from client reports. They describe APIQ campaigns, not the market.
| Metric | Value | Period | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Network | 2,300+ streamers; 120+ brands and agencies; 410+ campaigns since 2022 | October 2026 | APIQ |
| Where clicks come from | about 80% chat link, 10% QR code, 10% click on screen | campaign average | APIQ |
| L'Oréal Paris, Twitch, banner | 800,127 verified views, 367 streamers, CTR 1.47% | 29.08–29.09.2025 | client report |
| Migros Hemen, Twitch, full-screen video | 300,334 verified views, 203 streamers, CTR 2.01% | 07–20.04.2025 | client report |
| adidas, Twitch, side banner | 322,909 verified views, 243 streamers, CTR 1.89% | 20.03–07.04.2023 | client report |
| Fintech brand, Twitch | 9.86 million verified views, 59 streamers live at once, CTR 0.84% | 30 days | client report |
CTR here is clicks divided by verified views. Each counted view is checked on a screenshot with computer vision, and the audience is scored on 14 anti-fraud parameters; traffic flagged as suspicious is neither reported nor billed. One case's CTR is not a benchmark for another. These campaigns are on the case studies page. Terms used on this page are explained in the live stream advertising glossary.
Frequently asked questions
How many hours of live streams are watched in 2026?
Live streams drew a record 31.7 billion hours watched in Q3 2026 on the platforms tracked by Streams Charts, 0.8% more than in Q2. Stream Hatchet, which does not cover TikTok LIVE, counted 21.5 billion hours in Q2 2026. The two totals differ because the trackers cover different platforms, so compare platform shares within one source rather than across sources.
Which live streaming platform is the biggest in 2026?
By hours watched, YouTube is the largest live streaming platform: 43% of Q3 2026 hours on the platforms Streams Charts tracks. TikTok LIVE followed with 33.5%, Twitch with 14.2% and Kick with 6.4%. Of the platforms with published channel counts, Twitch had the most channels going live, 7.94 million in Q2 2026.
How big is the live stream advertising market?
We found no open, primary estimate of global ad spend inside live streams. The closest public benchmark is IAB's projection of US creator economy ad spend: $37 billion in 2025, up 26%. WPP Media forecasts global advertising revenue, excluding US political advertising, of $1.3 trillion in 2026. Amazon, which sells Twitch ads, does not report Twitch revenue separately.
How many people use ad blockers?
eyeo's 2026 ad-blocking report counts 1.1 billion active ad-blocking users worldwide in Q4 2025: 448 million on desktop and 629 million on mobile. Its 2025 ad-block rates were 33% in the US, 32% in Turkey, 31% in Germany, 29% in Spain and 27% in the UK. eyeo captions that table with GWI but credits Blockthrough traffic data in its methodology, so read it as an order of magnitude: the measured ad-block rate is roughly three in ten.
Are live streaming statistics audited?
No. Hours watched, peak and average viewers come from analytics services such as Streams Charts and Stream Hatchet, or from the platforms themselves, and they measure viewing time rather than people. Ad reach figures come from the platforms' ad tools. For a campaign, what counts is delivery verified view by view, not market estimates.
